Funny Money?

Ok....so today I was sitting in my classroom having read aloud time with my students. They were all strategically placed "on the carpet". They are strategically placed so they won't kill each other when they are in such close proximity of each other! I alternate boys and girls because this works the best. Let's chase a rabbit for a minute..... do any of you remember the story of when me and my friend Kirsten were at Maw-Maw and Papa's house? We were going to go outside to look through the telescope. When Kirsten put her shoe on, she thought it felt weird like there was some dirt in the toe of her shoe so she reached in and pulled out......a roach!!!! YUCK! We were laughing and screaming at the same time! It was the kind of thing that gives you the chills and makes you wipe your hand a million times because you just can't get that "feeling" off of your hand---the feeling of a live roach! So, back to my kids being strategically placed on the carpet. One of my boy students wanted to show me some money--our current unit is on currency. They all think I have NEVER seen a quarter with the year 1982 on it...or a nickel that has Jefferson on it...their mom's are the only people who have those! SO, he reached in his pocket and pulled out the coin to show....AND a roach!!! A live one!!! It started running onto one of the girls I had strategically placed in front of him!! She was screaming and yelling...others just kept talking about how "it came out of his pocket!" He was looking at everyong like they had lost their mind, and then he just stepped on it like it was no big deal...he does that everyday! It was definitely gross, but also funny! This is just one of the things I deal with at school!

I would have freaked. Ughh, I hate roaches! Just one more advantage of living in CO...I haven't seen a roach in almost 3 years. Now, spiders...that is a different story. I actually had a spider crawling on my neck this morning while laying in bed. I jumped up shaking my hair and there it was on the bed after falling off of me. I killed that sucker. I don't know what kind of spider it was, but I have to say I have a real fear of getting bitten by a brown recluse especially after getting that lovely email from your mother.

Now, Caci, you really shouldn't make fun of the children in your class. That little boy can't help the circumstances that he lives in......

But we're sure glad it gives us something to laugh about. :)

And, hey, let me be all technical for a sec on the brown recluse deal. That's a pretty low percentage deal. Although the pictures in that email may have shown the result of a brown recluse bite, it's not a common outcome. In fact, most brown recluse spider bites are pretty uneventful.

Hey Caci, remember when you were whining about how you couldn't get a cool glitter name because they didn't have a "caci" on the list. Well, look what I found.

Ok....I never got the email from mom about brown recluse bites, but I am with melissa about hating spiders.
Michael, something about the kids I teach has to give me a reason to laugh because so many more things give me a reason to say words I have never said before.
Melissa, I wasn't whining!! hahah
I will check out your sight and AP found one that will do my name in glitter and make it scroll....yeah she works HARD at Pinewood Park! LOL

It is nice to see the familiar love between sibs and cousins. And it is most definitely nice to have you back, Michael.
I do work very hard...very,very, hard at school. Melissa didn't tell me that I would neglect my REAL job... some blogaholics don't know they're blogaholics.

You know you are a blogaholic when while working at a school you look out your window and see one of the kids fall down and begin to bleed. You immediately get the camera to take a picture for your next blog and before checking on the kid you are looking for glitter bandaid clip art to add a cool effect.
