Summer Is Upon Us!

The temperature was a blazing 99 degrees today in Kilgore, TX! In order to cope with the heat, we took the kids to Wal-Mart and purchased a Slip and Slide! Loads of fun for the kids! I am so excited that my kids actually love the water and want to play in it. Ben feels more like Melissa when she said, "Can't the human race get away with never having to go into the water?" I remember riding in the car as a kid and looking at the blue sky, imagining it was a great big swimming pool that I could just dive right into. I hear the water calling to me, and I am willing to jump in! If it were up to me, I would have bought one of those big inflatable pools that the kids were begging for, but we were all happy with our purchase of the Slip and Slide. Once we got home, Ben set it up for the kids and Cole and Jacob commenced to slipping and sliding on it, laughing and having a blast. Annalisa figured out that slipping and sliding isn't as easy as it sounds, so she cried a bit at first. Then Ben picked her up and tossed her down the Slip and Slide so she could slide the whole way....She LOVED it! It was so funny. I made a photo story from the day and I hope you enjoy viewing it. (It may take a few minutes to load, so please be patient!)There are also some pics on there of Jacob playing baseball and all three kids being beautiful. Hope you have fun this summer too!

Looks like a lot of fun. My neighbor bought a slip and slide recently, so we'll be slippin' and slidin' soon too!

First, what a wonderful job on your video. I really enjoyed it and must have watched it 3 or 4 times. It made me wish i was a kid again playing in the water with you and Michael Michael Motorcycle. (lol.. havent heard that name in a while huh!)

Secondly, and to a more important topic, what an appropriate name for that little deadly device. Whoever came up with the name for a Slip-n-Slide obviously had been employeed by the testing department. I say this because he simply called it what he did.. first he slipped (and most probably broke something important)and then he slid (twirling on his back screaming for the love of Jesus to please stop him). Of course this took place just before he slid off the end of the slide and did a few somersaults over some pine cones (which he didnt think were really an important issue when he first laid out his plans but now saw the error in his mistake) and getting horrible grass burns on his chest and upper thighs.

I thought these "toys" were banned back in the early 90's along with 3 wheelers, ankle tight floaties and pogo sticks. Actually im not really sure about the pogo sticks but they needed to be banned. Ever seen anyone ever really have fun on a pogo?? exactly!! Im adding these three things to George Bush's Axis of Evil along with Iraq, Iran, and one of those Korea's.

Jeffrey, once again you have managed to make me cry because I was laughing soo hard!!! Thank you for the humor! I do know that you forgot to mention yard darts being banned though....and the pogo stick thing....when I started working at PWP I took my kids out to recess and they were fighting over pogo sticks. I couldn't figure out what the deal was...I am just like you...they aren't fun!!! I couldn't believe our school had actually invested money in such a "toy"! Hope to see you and Katy soon!

What makes this thing even more deadly is when your dad decides he'll pour half a bottle of dish soup up and down the "slide" for that little extra "slip".

ben actually told me to put vegetable oil on it for the kids! I am glad these new ones have a "bumper" at the end to stop the kids!

Talk about DEADLY...I don't think MawMaw and Papa ever bought a slip n slide when I was a little girl. Why would they? We got to play in the water pretty much when we wanted to in the summer. When we lived in Cherokee Park in Shreveport we had a nice tether ball pole set up in the backyard. You can imagine how worn down that circular spot was in the yard. We thought it would be a nice place to make our own slip n slide since there had not been any grass there for quite some time. After removing the tether ball pole we wet that spot down and got it nice and muddy. Can you imagine running and sliding into a circle of mud....We thought it was wonderful, even though it hurt like HELL!!!

what a wonderful memory! I hope you removed the pine cones and sticks first!
